About Us

We are Agomoni. Learn more about our Principles.

Our Identity

Agomoni Cultural Association of Durham is a non-profit organization registered in Canada to promote Bengali culture and welcome members from every nationality, race, age, and religion.

Mission

Agomoni’s mission is to promote Bengali culture in Canada, and primarily in Durham region through religious and non-religious events of cultural significance.

Agamoni is a concept dedicated to the stimulation of the Bengali sentiment, to promote the development and preservation of a feeling of mutual comprehension and ethnic solidarity in Canadian society by encouraging cultural and educational activities of common interest.

vision

Agomoni’s vision is to provide opportunity for Bengalis to experience and carry forward traditions and culture they have left behind in their homeland, so they feel included while they continue to contribute to their Durham community.

We believe in the strength of culture to achieve this understanding. Culture helps us negotiate ways of living together, build and understand our multiple identities and make Canada our home.

Every event or collaboration is a block added to the foundation of our common future. Step by step, day by day, collaboration by collaboration.

What we stand for

We strive to provide opportunities for vulnerable seniors in the Bengali community to pass on their knowledge of culture, music, art and religion to younger generation and feel they are an important part of our community and are not isolated.

We will create an environment of resources and events for Bengali youths to learn about their culture and heritage as well as take it forward to other youth in community to encourage inclusiveness, build self-esteem and advocate diversity in Durham region.
